Thanks Doug:-) I think 10 is more than enough as Josh has tinnitus now & he's not a loud player but there's lots of very loud players around a.

Your really pulling out the stops getting some old equipment. I had an old Ampeg that still used this "technology" that put out the most amazing sound. The volume only went to 10 though and I always wanted one that went to 11. -Doug

Thanks Brent:-) The valve was laying down on the bench & I shot it from the end looking into it. Here's a valve picy & looking at this me shot is like looking straight down. In my picy you can see the knob of glass that's on top as a round blob in the middle of my picy.

Interesting and still hard to figure out even with the benefit of your description.

Thanks Carole:-) This is looking down on the top of it & below is a reflection. The valve looks like an elongated light bulb it's what the used before transistors were invented. A lot of players prefer the sound of a valve amp over a transistor one.

Even after you've told us what this is, I still can't figure it out. It looks like something out of a sci-fi movie! I like the oddness of this though - it appears to be floating in space. :-) CJ
