Bleeding L wot a difference, you have transformed this picy into a complete reversal of the focal point point issue. The hand & flower now take pride of place with excellent background support. Good work on the dodging/burning mate & a fine conversion.

Thanks, Penny. I certainly don't mind hearing it twice. -Doug

Thanks Tommy. I originally intended to give this a b/w treatment but I was shying away from it because it felt like I was going to the well too many times. I really wanted to use the wide angle distortion to push his hand right out of the screen. -Doug

Doug when I saw the color version I didn't know what to say because of the potential but complicated color arrangement that robbed the picy of a singular point of 'focus'. Now in bw the ambivalent subject focus is miraculously transformed into a near masterpiece. The hand and seed stalk really pop as they should. Outstanding conversion. -tv

It's the right idea mate & will work for a distorted picy a. I think the problem here Doug as far as the strong focal point goes is the arm is in sunlight but the front of the hand is in shade which doesn't tell our eyes to look at the hand & wot it's holding. If the whole hand was in sunlight the shot would be more nailed. Anyhow you can now shoot flower picys if you like:-)

adorable. and terrific for the topic too! Penny Street

Charming picture :) Nice composition and easy to read, IMO. If anything, the flower could perhaps be somewhat brighter, to attract more immediate attention. If darker, I think it would vanish.

Ha ha, we are getting to know your kids well by now, Doug. I knew it was your pic from the thumb (not your kid's thumb :)

Honestly, I think the photo lacks a clear focusing point, as my eyes wonder about all over the place searching for something to rest on. If I were to suggest, I would think a darker flower/object will help in that regard. Cheers, mate.
