Fixing this was like making lunch for my family - how to do it and please everyone (including myself). Not an easy task. Penny Street

Well, tv said I didn't quite get it right so I changed up the triangle a bit to make it touch the edge of the frame. If you can't see what I changed, then I must have done a great job.
I agree with you about the lady and will probably opt to dodge her back to oblivion because that's the way I saw it and liked it, but I thought I'd give people a chance to see it this way and let me know what they think.

I can't see what you have changed to make this qualify (I thought it qualified before) Why would you lighten the lady & take the mysterious edgy edge out of the picy? If nothing else her legs forming a triangle wiv the bottom of the frame would make it qualify. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't change anything because I liked it as it was but you NEVER should change anything if YOU believe the picy is how YOU wanted it. (referring more to the darkness of lady than the topic) There's only one poster commented about lightening the lady & everyone else seemed to like it as it was, you said you did too. Do you mean on Shu's suggestion about making the red triangle reach the top more? If so that wouldn't make it qualify as the black outline still wouldn't reach the top corner to act as a triangle with the frame. As I said I think the triangle of the legs makes a triangle with the frame & the imperfect triangle is a reinforcement of the topic. If you are worried about making the red triangle on topic you will have to crop down from the top so the black line reaches the corner.

Okay. Tell me what you think about the girl's details and if the whole thing qualifies now. Or I can try what Shu said (if I can figure out how to do it).

thanks Shu, I'll give it a go. Penny Street

Very nice, Penny! It's a triangle with extra interest, Can you imagine if the dark figure wasn't in the frame??? (Add on a clone on the right-hand side to suit tv--LOL) shu

so are you saying this isn't on topic? I could have cropped the triangle up to the corner, but it loses some interest up there. Penny Street

Gritty, almost abstract expressionism like something from the 1960s. Well framed although the tip of the big red triangle violates the right edge of the frame. -tv

trust me, this woman had no girly bulges. But I'm going to play with this a little anyway and I'll get back to you. Penny Street

Did you notice Doug that Penny leaves out the girly bulges that we like:-)
ctfchallenge09-May-2009 00:11
The ambiguity of the woman is what makes the shot. I don't think that would be lost by lifting the shadows since she will still be headless but I don't think there would be anything to gain by doing so either. -Doug

Bruce, I actually tried that and I did bring it up the shadow slightly (believe it or not) but, like Rod said, I kind of prefer not to give too much away.

Just shows you how subjective looking at picys can be a. Bringing out the details in the girl would make this just a pretty picy, a darned good one at that but the artistry & mystery will be gone for me.

Very good. But maybe open up the shadows in the girl a bit. There's a lot of detail to recover and her silhouette is a little vague what with all the stuff she is carrying.
ctfchallenge08-May-2009 12:14
why thanks, Rod.
This is part of the left over Macys day parade decoration on Broadway, Brent.

Gawd this is very ahrty with the silhouette & really blurred right foot pointed out by the arrow can conjure up some some real emotions from the viewers. The colours look very vivid but sinister at the same time which links right in with the silhouette. I would say this is your most artistic picy yet. Amazing work.

Very nice Penny, I especially like that weathered paint look and vibrant colors. Is this on some kind of playground? Nice work.
