Thanks Rod and Brent. Brent, I said below that I have never used this preset before as it never worked for any other image. But for these flowers and lighting, I really liked it. jano

Bleeding L the B&W one at full size looks ......weeell very manly in a girly way a. It's sort of hard to pick but I could only see the B&W picy hanging on me wall, it looks fantastic.

Beautiful Jano! I wouldn't want to see this processing all the time, but it was quite effective here in giving these flowers a distinctive look.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to leave the color version in, but hope that my friend at work will like the b&w. Here is the link to the larger version. http://www.pbase.com/jstrong/image/111504221

being a girl..... I like the colors better. But I like the b/w too and would love to see it larger. Penny Street (who needs to get lightroom, evidently - wow).

Geez I like the look of the B&W Jano, it's too hard to say at that small size whether I prefer it over the colour one but the B&W certainly shows up the graduations in the lighting better. What a dilemma which one to pick. Nice problem to have a:-)

Wow Doug, that's quite a compliment! Thank you.

Here is the b&w version... I like the color though and not sure about this processing... Wot do you think?

Fantastic setup Jano. This is a front runner for my favorite flower shot of all time. -Doug

I wanted to add that I plan on doing this in b&w also, as there is quite a bit of texture I that I can bring out. A lady at work really likes flora in b&w, so I'm hoping she will like it :)

Debi - I used the PH Hardrocker preset from the Preset Heaven website. I downloaded some others also... frankly, this is the first time I used it. The direct link to this particular preset it here http://www.presetsheaven.com/2008/10/13/hardrocker-a-lightroom-preset-for-a-harder-look/

Enjoy!

Is it one of the inbuilt presets? If not is there some site I could d/l it from ? - Debi

Thanks everyone for commenting. The processing is a LR preset which adds slight desat, extra contrast, and brightening. Most of the presets I rarely use..but it really depends on the color, subject, and lighting. It seemed to work here, yet keep the integrity of the original image. This is a bouquet of flowers from Easter that I promised I would shoot. I just set them on my table in the basement, with a softbox on my left and umbrella on the floor aimed up for fill. The shadows came out nicely. I must admit this was the last shot taken after getting the background flowers to compliment the front runner. Oh, and this was taken in the dark with only the lights for lighting... so that is where the black comes from. jano

fantastic processing - the almost translucent white and the perfect black - Debi

Gorgeous light and dof. The flower in front is really a great "in your face" presentation. I'm guessing you were standing on a ladder or something?
The composition is awesome! Penny Street

The white flower packs quite a punch. How did you get the perfect blacks? Very impressive and to my eye an original, creative presentation of the "bunch". I'm curious about the processing especially the color balance. -tv
