Aam, this one keeps catching my attention, it just feels good to view! Nice job. Yvonne

Good work Aam. Nothing more to say. -tv

I think for me this one works well as it is now Aam though some of what Rod did in pending with the balls being evenly space from the frame on either side has maybe a more harmonious feel. I do like the asymmetry of the loop on the right, but maybe the stuff on top could either not be included or included more? Well seen and shot though :-)

Thank you gentlemen. Rod, usually for every pic you see here I've probably taken 5 or 6. Maarten, you sound like a "local guy" even though this is your first challenge :) Thank you again, mates.

I would say that the odd loop on the right creates some "creative tension" (tm). So, a good thing. :-) But I think I would have cropped the top as CJ suggested. I also like very much how the horizontal part of the fence seems to split the background in two colours. To paraphrase the local language: "Nice picy mate"! -Maarten

My comments weren't so much wanting a crop but rather a suggestion for when you're looking through the viewfinder. Like explore a few different framings in the viewfinder to see what sort of frame snaps in as looking right. Or even take a few picys of the subject with different framings & pick the one on the computer that looks right to you. You might be doing this already, do you have other versions of this subject & you picked this one as the best for your eyes, which is more important than wot we think a.
Anyhow if you're a SOG & I'm an SOB we might be related a:-)
aam1234 18-Apr-2009 01:59
That was a great effort, mate. Thanks...actually, big thanks.

Sadly, I'm a stubborn SOG (G as in Gun), and refuse to crop unless minor. Your effort is well appreciated, though.
Rod 18-Apr-2009 01:30
P.S. My problem isn't with the right hand side as I think that works well but the left side stands out like dogs balls to me:-)
Rod 18-Apr-2009 01:28
Well I'm not sure if understanding you is relevant Aamm mate as this picy either works for me or it doesn't, of course wiv degrees in between. For me this has "negative tension" (tm):-)
I've done a couple of versions & put them in Pending that may explain wot I'm trying to say. Obviously only so much can be done working with this one as the last picy posted with only three balls init is just to show a simple repetitive pattern which would work better maybe with more balls.

Thank you sista CJ. Thought long & hard about the top but couldn't decide. Guess I have to think some more :)
ctfchallenge18-Apr-2009 01:17
I agree with aam on this. I like the asymmetrical look with the loop in the upper right. I might crop the top a bit down to the top of the iron but other than that little nitpick, I like it as is. Nice bokeh in the background too aam. CJ
aam1234 18-Apr-2009 01:11
This is what I'm trying to avoid, brother....symmetry :)
ctfchallenge18-Apr-2009 01:07
This works as is Aam but I might entertain loosing the extra loop on the right for symetry. -Doug

Thank you, sista Penny :)

Need to read what you said Penny three more times to know if you like the pic or hate it. I think you like it, right?
ctfchallenge18-Apr-2009 00:01
I am SO totally NOT sure if I would like the repetitive pattern better if it were completely that (with the exception of the spider web). However, I do like your photo (and the title). Penny Street

Hope I'm understanding you correctly mate, but it seems you forgot my concept "Positive Tension" (tm) :)
Rod 17-Apr-2009 23:46
I don't think we need guides as to what the picy is about in the titles so I would have just called this a Fence. A title can't make a picy on or off topic it's only our eyes can do that a.
Anyhow I like this fence isolated from the background with it's nice background light & colours well done.
I'm not so much one for perfect looking picys but with a simple repetitive pattern like this I think it would work better if you had lined up the gold balls evenly from both edges or picked another part of the fence where you could do this. I think it would be worth it as this looks very nice a.
