Thanks Carole and Stan. Russel Gultch is off of Oh My God Road on top of Idaho Springs. -Doug

COAmature-Great set of pictures, especially like this one. Building could be associated with the mine. My favorite is Stanley Mine in Idaho Springs. My son & family lived in CO for 10 years (Shawnee), visited many mines. First experience, ride on O'My God Road, Idaho Springs to Central City. -Stan

Old gold mining towns are really interesting. We live about 20 miles from where gold was discovered by James Marshall in Coloma CA in 1848, so gold mining is a big deal around here! CJ

There are houses that pop up in strange places up in the mountains but this isn't too far from civilization. Idaho Springs is only a couple miles of poorly maintained dirt road away. I'm not sure Aam but I believe Denver exists partly because of the same gold rush. Many of our mines did not mine gold though and I don't think there are any active gold mines remaining although there is still a lot of it. -Doug

Good overview of the place. Is it the same gold rush as the one in California.

The house down in the pit looks really out of place, was it for the mining. It looks lived in, what a strange place to live.

You must be tired. This is a retired gold mine though so there must be some connection. -Doug

It reminds me of the World Trade Center Pit. I must be tired. Penny Street

You must be referrring to the "wildest ride in the wilderness" roller coaster. Big Thunder Mountain. We go every year and were just there in Febuary. Buck up little camper. -Doug

It's odd that this reminds me of a ride at DisneyWorld. *sigh* Life is good... but temporary. ~Lydia
