You're acting like a spoilt kid Lydia I would never comment on spelling errors or make tit for tat comments because you didn't like something I said under another entry.
The big mistake you're making from what I said under DTs Photoshop image & trying to introduce the same analogy here under a Photo is really very silly because this picy or others in these challenges could be slotted in amongst a talented photographic artists exhibition & would probably blend in very well, whereas DTs image would be too basic to slot into an exhibition of a talented graphic artist.
Does that mean some of us are as good as the talented photographic artist, no it doesn't it just means that once in a while we snag a shot that is on a par with the talented one. The talented one gets these shots almost daily not one in a thousand shots like us. The same lucky one in a thousand image can't be done in photoshop without the skills needed to get to that high level so I stand by what I said

I meant "competition". Please, please, please forgive my typographical error. It was unintentional and I beg you to forgive it. ~Lydia

To quote the artist: "By using the above superlatives for an average [photographic image] compared to what can be done in [the camera] by [professional photographers] is totally absurd."

Yet, still... I stand by my original comment: "FABULOUS. Amazing. Really." We're here in an amateur competion. Let's remember that and not compare what the professionals/stars are able to do with our same equipment. ~Lydia

Thanks Charlie:-) You have explained it very well.

This is my favorite of your three. I like how the ripples disappear into the top left corner. It gives me the feeling that they are leading me somewhere. The slight increase in brightness in the corner itself suggests that I am being led "to the light," in some mystical way. It works well. Nice shot.

Dang Rod. Only #6 and already a ripper. That sun glare is outstanding. -Doug
Rod 02-Mar-2009 11:54
Thanks David:-) No this wasn't at the Black sea, this picy is in ahrtiiiiistis B&W mate. I was hoping the sun highlights would help take the eyes to the water, anyhow the diagonals are all wet with water a.
ctfchallenge02-Mar-2009 07:44
Oh Rod, you see only repetitive patterns in the water? This one is less about the water since the diagonals are so strong, and the water is pushed into the backround . Was this shot at the Black Sea? DaB

Just a quick comment Rod as there is a stool waiting for me at the pub to park my bum on and have dinner and a pint(s).
I like this one best of the three, it's quite nice- like the way the ripples trail off to almost nothing in the corner. The third one is good too (best in B+W) and the first one should go in the special Rod gallery ;-) You got a good start on things mate.
~Brent

Great looking shot Rod! The strong diagonal lines tapering off up to the left as well as the darker to lighter tones, is really nice. I like the sun reflections too. CJ
