5th Place - City Icons 2 by Brent

There are a couple of City Icons in this image. The Pike Place Market is claimed to be the oldest public produce market in the US and it is the number one tourist attraction in the city. And of course many will know Seattle is pretty much known as "Coffee City USA" as represented by the cup.

My fave from your City Icons series. A great looking shot, and it has an iconic look to it. Something you'd not easily forget seeing. Really like the composition and the colors. Made my faves from this challenge.

Getting a contrast in colors is one of my favorite things. This one works very well from that perspective. Nice job.

Beautifully composed image on so many levels. After looking at the foreground I realised there was yet more to see in the background.

Well balanced and richly rendered colors. Wonderful control over extreme lighting conditions caught during those critical few minutes of twilight. -tv

Having been there and tried to do that, I know this isn't as easy as it looks - great job!!! And, without a doubt, Pikes Place Market IS a city icon. And there's really no place like it (at least that I've experienced).

What a terrific image of Seattle Brent! Here's another one I think you could market to the travel bureau. I just saw a similar scene on dpreview, but not nearly as well done. I like the repetition of the reddish/orange neon in the market sign and the coffee cup and the similar tones in the fish and sunset. Wonderful contrast with the sky and water too. VERY nice! :-) CJ

Nicely done and like the corner coffee cup.

Well thanks much all :-) I didn't exactly blaze a new trail shooting here but I guess the typical shot from this vantage point would expand more beyond the icons.

I can't think of anything you should do differently here. Perfect, Brent. ~Lydia

Yes this does look great a, the late/early light really helps to bring everything into one. Well shot Brent.

very well exposed, the natural and artificial light - getting the right balance isn't easy - Debi

This easily works as an icon even without an explenation. The coffee, the fish, the background, everything fits. Rich with color yet not overwhelming too. -Doug
