Hi Doug, Thank you for your comment.

This is a brilliant shot. A piece of art without the need of computer manipulation. That art overrides the unflattering angle in my opinion. -Doug

Thanks Brent. Yeah I made a fool of my self and she was laughing her head off. Fun times :) (Maybe not so much for me at that point) ~ Christakis

Fun shot Christakis, obviously she was having a good time :-)

Haha... Well... What can I say?! Im speachless... :)
Rod 06-Feb-2009 23:03
I remember the silly paper clips the girls liked. I can't believe it was from the same photographer who produced this picy:-)
Rod 06-Feb-2009 23:01
"Love in the office" was that a masterpiece or a silly shot.........Something tells me it was silly:-)
Rod 06-Feb-2009 22:58
Don't worry Christakis I'm relaxed all of the time. It's one of life's little pleasures telling Aamm off:-)
Guest 06-Feb-2009 21:41
LOL Rod! Relax mate everyone is entitled to their opinion! Let me remind you the "Love in the office" shot ;) No really, thank you for your kind comments.
Rod 06-Feb-2009 20:53
There's enough shadow in the mouth & nostrils to stop this being an up the nose shot.Gawd Aamm you have a way of spoiling the moment, it's lucky this is a ripper of a shot so the places your making us look have no bearing on appreciating this. The over processed studio picy you like fades into artistic irrelevance compared to this picy.
ctfchallenge06-Feb-2009 16:29
I usually don't like pictures like this, but I dunno why this really works for me. Possibly because I was part of the action. It was either this or miss the expression all together.
aam1234 06-Feb-2009 13:07
The lady is lovely, no doubt about that. I was referring to the the angle of view, which is not flattering to anybody, not just her.
Rod 06-Feb-2009 07:59
Ah, I see what has happened here. Aamm has seen how lovely this girl looks in the foreign hot choc picy:-) Don't worry Aamm she will go back to looking beautiful when this challenge ends.
Rod 06-Feb-2009 07:49
You have to be kidding Aamm, I imagine this lovely looking lady would have no problems with this less than flattering view in a picy with this much impact. I think she looks terrific, vivacious & knows how to enjoy herself. I would print this up & give it pride of place a my wall. The wide angle lens this close is never flattering along with direct flash but what a gem it created in this instance.
aam1234 06-Feb-2009 05:15
Christakis, if I were you I would remove this photo. That lady will not be pleased to see this pic of her.
ctfchallenge06-Feb-2009 00:52
Wonderful candid Christakis! She looks like a very fun person and you caught her at the perfect moment! I like edit one also but I don't think it's really that important in this picture. CJ
Guest 06-Feb-2009 00:33
Thank you for your comment Rod. You are right the imperfect details of the original give a twist to the picture. The reason edit one might work is just because I only fixed the nose tip and reserved the rest.
Rod 05-Feb-2009 19:52
It's possible that edit one could work but i think this original looks more vibrant & immediate. This isn't the type of picy to get perfect. For whatever reason it just works so well, it's a real moment & a treasure.

Thank you Penny for your comment. I played a bit with this image and put two edits in the pending gallery. Please tell me what you think as I'm not hot on retouching. Here are the links:

I love the black hair against the black backgroud and her expression is - well, I hate the word perfect. Penny Street

Hi Rod thank you for your comment, pumped up my confidence :) . Debi, you are right the nose tip has a tiny flash reflection. I didn't consider it to be a major issue as I didn't want to start retouching the image. I will play with it later and see how it turns out.
Rod 04-Feb-2009 19:03
I can't see any blown highlights, don't forget Debi a blown highlight is a pure white area with no details. There's a little catch light on the tip of the nose but it's too small to be a problem.
I'm not a fan of direct flash picys but here it seems to add to the spontaneity of the moment. The long neck & angle of the face with the hair only showing on the right side makes this one of the rare times when a grab shot transforms into a special picy. I think this is magnificent mate, one that reinforces photography as an art. I luv it.

Her cheeks - and the tip of her nose - Debi
ctfchallenge04-Feb-2009 18:15
Hi Debi, thanks for your comments. No I didn't change the picture. Where exactly are the blown highlights you are referring to? With regards to your previous comment, Sure you can link it to your flickr group if you want to. This is was a lot simpler than you think. We were at a club hence very low available light. Set camera to M with 1/125, f/5 ISO200 as I was going to be using the flash as the main source of light. Kept the camera turned on all night hanging from my neck. This was simply a case of tilting the camera a up a bit from were it was hanging from and pressing the shutter (I didn't even know what to expect but didn't have much time either). Only thing to add is that I had a 580EX II flash mounted which really helped a lot for this image (AF-Assist Light, no unnecessary flashes to focus which would spoil the impulsiveness of the image).
ctfchallenge04-Feb-2009 17:48
Err did you change the pic - there seems to be blown highlights here on my home PC - Debi
ctfchallenge04-Feb-2009 06:43
love the light? How did you do it? Can I link this to my flickr group? We are trying to learn about lighting - Debi
