In Hawaii, if I remember correctly, the Parrot Fish were called Uhu and I think they are important to the coral ecosystem. Very pretty color - Penny Street

Thanks much all, I thought one of the signs that I was maneuvering around while trying to frame said "Parrot Fish". I just just checked Wikipedia and sure enough that is what it is. She's a girl as the blokes are a drab gray color I learned. Apparently they are a delicacy elsewhere in the world but are seldom consumed in the US though you can see in the lower frame a fillet ready for sale. I really was surprised at how fresh this thing looked as I would guess they setup the display hours before I shot this -maybe she was just sleeping?

What a beautiful fish - do you have any idea what it is? I'm surprised the eye is so clear, this must be a very fresh fish. I like the composition and colors and the sharpness of the eye an if you hadn't said this was from the fish market, I might have thought you got this at an aquarium! :-D CJ

Amazing sharpness for a "grab" shot Brent. Well done and I love the colors. I do see one speck of dust on the eye - maybe a spot patch would resuscitate him:-) -angioman

Not bad for a grab shot. You got the eye in focus and well framed so the rest works as a pool of color circulating around the main subject - that eye... icey and dead. Fishy AE Poe? -tv

Thanks Mate :-) This was pretty much a grab shot at the fish market. There were signs sticking up out of the ice in my way with most angles. I was happy to at least work out a catch light in his dust free eyeball ;-) The fishmongers don't like it when you look and don't buy so I did this quick and wish I had allowed just a little more DOF. I would have bought some fish so I would be welcome to take my time, but then who wants to drag around dead fish all day? Not this guy.

The eye looks nice & clear so this must still be alive or did you give it a polish before shooting. For some reason I would have liked to have seen this fish going across the bottom of the picy with ice showing on top & all the fish in focus. The colours came out really well a. Mind you if you shot it that way the fin could have been a problem.
