Spectacular shot! I've never seen clouds like that...only in photos. ~dtallakson

Thanks all :-) I figured if anyone would be brainy enough to know the name of those clouds it would be you Kiki ;-) They really were something to see.

Just beautiful. The cloud formation is very unique too.

I love those clouds - beautiful formations and colors! Nice layered look to the whole image and I like the warm glow to the mountain. CJ

A costly sight, beautiful colors. I've only seen lenticular clouds in pictures, fascinating appearance.
(And congrats with the new camera! :))

He he, that is kind of a cowboy like cloud now that you mention it YB :-) Hey I have a G9 too and know it isn't a slouch regarding image quality. I prefer the control I have with an SLR when I'm able to carry one, but I'm always literally shocked it the high IQ I get out of the G9 when I use it.

Great shot Brent. My first reaction was the expectation of hearing music - it reminded me of the opening shot of epic cowboy films.
Daily your making me more dissatisfied with my G9.

Thanks Rod and Penny, no reason to get peed as I applied some light noise reduction to this. Probably didn't need to and shouldn't have but there was a slight graininess in the foothills (might have been atmospheric haze). I goofed when I shot this at iso 800, you would think now that I have an iso display in my viewfinder I wouldn't make that mistake- stupid! The low noise is neat, but what I just saw and was surprised by is the detail this cam picks up that the 30D didn't (displayed at the same size). I've shot a bunch of stuff from this location and there were signs in the distance that weren't readable before, now they are and I'm using the same lens- pretty amazing really.

agree with Rod..... I won't even use ISO 800 in my camera anymore (actually my little fuji point and shoot is the best I have for that). I'm really really jealous, especially since now it's dark before I get to leave work.
This is a wonderful shot!

The cloud looks stunning a. I'm getting really peed off seeing all the Iso 800 picys looking as good as me Iso 100 picys. You could at least use a noise filter to add some noise so you don't upset us too much:-)

Thanks Lydia :-) Except, are layers zen?
