I thought this was a bottle brush flower and it looks good against the dark background. (For once, I'd like to see this
flower)

today it looks like a funny colored dust mop. (I guess that's closer to a bottle brush a.) Penny Street

Thanks Kiki, Penny, Doug, Kurt, Tommy:-) & up yours YB:-) Yes I think I'm going overboard with the curves tool to save too much dodging & burning Tommy I will be over it soon:-) With the plant in direct sun against a shadow background it will have a more contrasty look than normal. Kiki The closest plant that looks like this one is Melaleuca nesophila but it's pink & not red like my one. We just call these sorts of plants Bottle brush plants as some are longer & look like a bottle brush.

I have to get used to this new contrasty Rod - almost garish compared to your torch-lighted mellow flower picys of yore. This "flower" reminds me of a painting named "Blast 1" by Adolph Gottleib. Well not really but it came to mind. But I do see this as something visually analogous to the Big Bang on a back yard scale. -tv

It looks like a wig we have that one of my kids wore on Halloween. I like it - Penny Street

Very nice, and unquestionably minimalistic. You do flower shots like few others. I wouldn't have guessed this *was* a flower btw.. looks almost like a ball of yarn. Know the name?
