Overwhelmed with Choices

Tokyo, Japan

As I was walking around Tokyo this weekend trying to take some photos for this challenge, I became convinced that we have just too many material things to choose from. I saw this lady looking at a selection of goods and she just couldn't make up her mind. This put the idea of a collage in my mind.

I'm with Mary Anne on this - I didn't at first see that this was a collage in the thumbnail. It certainly does speak to mass consumerism! :-) CJ

I think if you put a a thin border around each and the overall combo it might work better, imo. It's confusing me as it is. Also, if you ever decide to post one of them independently, I suggest the lower left one, it's awesome. Good work nonetheless, Jim.

as a collage, I think I liked it better before the crop.

Jim, this is such a good reflection of our material world that at first glance I didn't even notice that it's a collage. Maybe I've become too accustomed to the overwhelming mind-boggling amount of stuff that often surrounds us when we go shopping.

Hi Doug. No problem with your position - actually there are 5 photos here, as the lady is extracted from another one. Actually, I wasn't entering expecting to win, but this was a good excuse for me to try a collage and see how it turned out. I still have a lot of learning to do in that area.
It's just that I felt like any one photo didn't generate the "shopping" mood for me, so I tried this. Try to judge it as a single entity, not as 5 distinct photos. For instance, if it is too busy for you, then so be it.

Collages don't work for me in these challenges. In this case it forces us to judge 4 pictures instead of one and that isn't fair to you. -Doug

YB - here is a version cropped more: some off the left, top, & bottom. You were right, it does look a little better.

Thanks for the comments. This is one of my few attempts at a collage without frames. I've cropped it once, and I suppose I could take a little more off the left side & possibly the top.I don't want to lose the feel of "lots of choices", though.

The image might be improved by being more tightly cropped.
