thanks Carole and Brent. No Brent I have not seen the movie - Debi

This is wonderful Debi! Perfect for the topic- or anytime. Interesting to know something about the structure and how it houses so may families too. I thought of you when I was watching the film "Outsourced" the other night. It starts out with scenes a couple of blocks from my house in Seattle and then travels to Bombay for a bit before going elsewhere in India. Maybe you have seen the film- it wasn't bad I think.

Well done Debi and b&w is perfect to show off the details of the structure. Iteresting architecture with a bit of an unkempt look to it. The laundry gives a hint to the humanity inside. CJ

No silly billy there's no lean, it's the roundness along wiv the balcony & supports that reminds one of Pisa. Mind you it's 35 years since I was there.

Well could be because I leaned out of my cab to take the pic, and straightened it in Picasa- not well enough it seems - Debi

Very nicely done Debi webi, this looks great for the topic & great just as a picy. For some reason it reminds me of the leaning tower of Pisa.

Thank you Sharon, Penny & Tommy. These old buldings also are home to dozens of families. Each room of may be 100-200 sq feet houses a family or two as space in these areas of Bombay are at a premium. The landlords get very low rents and are not bothered to repair them.

Very good architectural study Debi. Personally I would love to see you expore more of this kind of subject. There is so much art in architecture that is lost to our attention but a precious part of our humanity as a creative species. -tv

You were right not to name this - that seems to top off the indescribability (is that a word) of this building. Lovely work showing all the intricate details but in a very subtle way... kind of like taking something ornate and making it bland.
I like it. Penny Street
