It was about 8:30 a.m., and the flowers were growing next to an old historic building. Maybe that explains why they look past their prime!

While I agree with Brent that the flowers look a bit wilted the colors and shadows still look nice.

This is nicely done Mary Anne with great color. For me though, the flowers have a hot afternoon slightly wilted look rather than a look of morning crispness to them. Hope that makes sense.
