Thanks Jano and Penny! The porch stain turned out redder than we had anticipated when we bought it, but it's lasted a few years and now it's time to redo it. I think we'll try to get a more subtle color this time! :-) CJ

I'm liking this more the more I look at it.

I think it's a hangover from the old days Carole but squre crops can work well wiv the right subject but square crops tend to diminish normal picys for me.

Very pretty reds CJ :) I like this very much with all the curves and details. jano

Thanks Doug and DT! I'm not sure why "some" people :-) don't like square crops as I see many images in galleries and frame shops with a square crop. Even the on-line matting companies provide square crops in their more expensive line of products, and they look great in a rectangular frame. :-) CJ

For me the square crop adds to the "art" element that is also illustrated in the excellent color and patterns. -COAmature

Thanks Rod, Lydia, Brent, aam and Tom. I cropped out the very bright, white table and chair as the dynamic range here was just too much, and I shot this in jpg so no recovering the whites. If I remember correctly, I had set the camera parameters up fairly high for a no pp challenge and forgot to change them so this is almost completely done in-camera Tom! :-D CJ

I kind of agree with Rod although I'm trying not to (feeling grumpy as I am). So what did you crop out? On my monitor it seems a bit over saturated and too dark/contrasty. I do like the competition between the squared-up straight lines of the floow planks competing with the complicated shadow patterns. -tv

Now this is definitely on topic.

Works really well for me Carole. The tone to it helps make it special.

Fabulous, Carole. Don't listen to Rod. He's a guy. !Lydia

This is a very nice arrangement of the shadows but I'm having trouble wiv the square crop for this picy as it seems to stilt the dynamics. Anyhow it still looks like a goodun, well done.
