Amazing how effective the bug is as the eye of the bird. Great catch. -tv

Thanks, yes I liked the little bugger too. I don't have his phone number, so not sure I can rearrange a shoot in the garden. And I think the fly perspective is necessary to really get the BIG color from this little flower. I'll try some other flower for the eligible section, fly or no fly.

I love that little fly Karl and he looks so cute on that big beautiful flower! A little more contrast and USM might make this a little sharper and some noise reduction might help (Noise Ninja and Neat Image have free sample programs to try out), but even without those things, I just really like this - it makes me smile seeing that tiny little guy! :-) CJ

Running it through a noise reduction filter might make the background easier to ignore. As it is, the grain within the greens and browns is grabbing too much of my eye's attention.

Thanks for getting us going with the beautiful "subtle" colors Karl. If only this weren't a heavy crop there might be more clarity to make this a really strong image- a reshoot possibly?

Well done on the subtle colours Karl they look really nice but I think you need more in focus than just the little flea:-)
