This is really nice Brent! I like the leading line of the river and lots of great tones - that polarizer worked wonderfully well on the sky! :-) CJ

Thanks much Yvonne :-) This was a nice spot to sit and have a snack too.

Brent, This is extremely cool! I agree the DOF is awesome, but my fav is the rocks! Yvonne

Thanks Cat :-) I am really enjoying this topic, it's getting me out in the all too short summer here and it is a good learning experience too. Thanks for choosing it. I only wish I had time to go up and hike into the North Cascage Range. There are some beautiful spots there that almost rival Yosemite in my opinion. It's just so far removed from most people being up in the very corner of the country.

Thanks Mary Anne, Doug and RK. I'm pleased to have come home with something people like at least a bit. I went out that way hoping to shoot a mostly dry lake with hundreds of dead tree stumps in it (could have been very dramatic) only to find the lake was full this year and the stumps were covered over. I appreciate the feedback RK and did save this as a tiff that could easily be reworked. I am wondering what specifically looks over-sharpened? The only elements I sharpened were the distant mountains and the creek after reducing image size. If Those look over cooked I could just back off sharpening some. If the trees and bushes look too sharp I could consider softening them- never had to do that on a landscape before but then this zone process is new to me. FYI if that lightning struck tree looks too jaggy, that's the way it really is and I didn't sharpen it.

Very nice composition Brent.
But, looks a tad bit over-sharpened.

Thanks Rod and Penny :-) I was hoping to find some gold nuggets in this creek to buy a new camera with but only found a soda can ;-) I was disappointed to not have any clouds but used a polarizer to get some saturation for a nice gradient of tones and it helped bring out the rocks in the water too. Of course now that the weekend is over and I have to work we have some nice clouds rolling in- typical!

Wot an excellent looking picy & possibly the most Ansel picy posted so far. Great DOF & the tones look great mate. It looks like you had a longer hike to this scene & well worth it.
