Signed and jacketed copy of H. T. Webster's 'The Timid Soul'

H. T. Webster introduced his immortal character Caspar Milquetoast in the mid-1920s while Webster was drawing for The New York World. In 1931, he published "The Timid Soul," a book of cartoons featuring Milquetoast. Later Webster reportedly characterized Milquetoast as "the man who speaks softly and gets hit with a big stick."

Webster inscribed this copy in 1933. Dust jackets are quite difficult to locate these days.
