Mark O'Hare

Notorious Falls City beer drinker and fellow Purdue University alumnus. Infinitely more talented and successful than I, O'Hare drew the exceptional Citizen Dog strip through 2001, then moved on to bigger and better things, including working on Spongebob Squarepants. He's illustrated a number of books and worked on god-knows-how-many animation projects, but personally I remain partial to the Citizen Dog series. It's second to none. Seriously.

Rumor has it that he has shaken hands with people who have shaken hands with both Charles Schulz and Walt Kelly.

I just found this page after searching for Art Gallery Archives using Google. I too would like a copy of this. I am a Purdue grad from the early 90's, but couldn't justify buying a copy when it came out, since I was a "poor college student".

I also have an original copy of "Art Gallery Archives" (actually, 2 of them, I wanted to keep one pristine). I also at one time had the entire last year of "Art Gallery", as I ripped them out of the Exponent as they came out. I'll have to see if I still have those...

I have a personally autographed copy of the art gallery archives as well as some personal art of marks.

I graduated from Noblesville High School with Mark and remained close friends with him until he moved to California.

I think he has only been home once, and is slow responding to his old friends email. I am still working on a current mailing address.

Thanks guys. Very generous offer, Tom. Believe it or not, a guy that works in my office just received an original copy of the Art Gallery Archives for a wedding gift (no kidding). He was asking around about it like I was, and a someone caught on -- a fellow Purdue grad. who had picked up a spare copy of the Archives years ago. I haven't seen it yet, but I expect to get a copy from him soon.

I don't remember exactly how many pages but as far as I know it's a full version, including the back cover shot of Mark as shown on this page. I'll pull it out of my files tonight and give you a better indication.

I'd love to get even a photo copied version of the archive. How many pages is it? Purdue's Special Collections Archivist has an original, but they said it can't be circulated, since it's part of a special collection. A few other guys here at the office remember Art Gallery too (several Purdue grads).

I have a photocopied version, in good re-copy-able condition, of a signed copy of Art Gallery Archives. I got this copy from a friend when I was a student at Purdue in '90. Jason, let me know if you're interested. I too have been looking for an original.

That is a MAJOR suck, Jason. How awful!

I'm in the process of trying to get a mailing address for Mark O'Hare. If I'm ever successful, I'll be sure to let you know -- it seems likely that he's going to be your best shot at getting information about where to get a replacement copy.
