Clifford McBride

Painter, cartoonist. Born in Minneapolis, MN on Jan. 26, 1901. After graduating from Occidental College, McBride settled in Pasadena where he began his career in 1923 as a staff artist for the Los Angeles Times. He then became a cartoonist for several national syndications and created the comic strip character Napoleon. His cartoons appeared in Life and Cosmopolitan magazines before his death in Altadena, CA on May 21, 1951.

My Great Great Uncle Bill Ortman was a character in his Napoleon and Uncle Elby cartoons. We have many of them in an album to remember. I wonder if he was in any of the books it would be great to have in the family.
