A handsome Swamp Sparrow stopped over on the property for a migration break. We have all summer, but I suspect ‘ours’ have moved on already.

We had one come into the office yesterday that looked just like this. It was stuck to a piece of that sticky paper they put down for rodents. It was horrible to see him struggling. We were able to free him using some Dawn dish soap. He was pretty drenched by the time we finished but his little feet were grasping onto our fingers. We put him in a box with a towel and told the guy to keep him until he dried out some. I don’t think the guy will ever use those sticky traps again. He had put them in his attic and the bird had gotten in there.
