Nature is amazing. I think this is the larval casing from a dragonfly that recently hatched. You can see where it is broken at the top of the abdomen. My wife spotted it off one of our trails. Pretty cool!

Eeech, discarded skins & casings are just...eww!! But they make for fascinating close-up shots. And props to Mrs. Carl for spotting this one :o)
