I spotted this fern in our front woods after work late today in the rain and almost darkness. I went out to clean up after the Asplundh tree crews went through the front of the property to clear branches from the wires. They left several large trunks from the ash trees that had been growing there. Most if not all were dying or would soon be dead from the emerald ash borer invasion. I cut them up and moved them to a dry location to save for firewood.
