Grey Squirrel (Black Phase)

The black phase grey squirrels started showing up here a couple of years ago.
The closest I had seen them previously was Niagara Falls and Letchworth State Park.
This one was enjoying some bird seed off the ground this morning.

Maybe you are being invaded by Canadian squirrels. "They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime... And some, I assume, are good squirrels." Time to build that squirrel wall. And the Canadians will pay for it.

In many species (at least in my part of the world) black forms are associated with heavier forest, presumably because of the camouflage it offers there. Does that make any sense in this case?
