Some old bird books from 1931. They were my wife's grandmother's books. 25¢ each.

Some poor writing though. For instance, the Green Heron is described as "gawky and stupid-looking."

Scientific knowledge has expanded somewhat. but those books could be worth something. v

Well you always get what you pay for -even though I think 25c bought a lot more in 1931... Nontheless, your composition is wonderful,the dark tabletop works like a charm! ~V~

The Nat Geo Field Guide to North American Birds I use seems a step up. Still neat to have these and to read the description of yesteryear.

Fascinating shot. I acquired a couple of those books (green book, yellow bk) and it was indeed interesting to see the wording. A different way of writing about nature then~ V
