Be sure and show us some picys of the kits when they emerge from their den if you can Mikey. Maybe next winter you can get a picture of her with her full winter coat - that would really be beautiful. Glad to hear she's only molting and doesn't have mange! :-) CJ
Thanks Mary Anne and CJ. I am lucky, CJ. I think this is a female (not sure?), but she is literally hunting in my front yard and her den is on my neighbor's 10 acres. She would have kits by now, she is shedding her winter coat, probably laying on her side nursing 4-6 kits and she is hungry. Looks it, doesn't she? Their diet is composed mostly of beetles, beetle grubs and the occasional vole, squirrel or bird. She stood like this for at least a minute; listening for underground activity, I'm sure. I was hoping for one of those foxy pounces, but nope, she just turned and cruised off into the forest. Maybe next time. In a month she'll start bringing her kits along. Thanks again, -mikey
Beautiful Mikey! How lucky you are to be able to get shots of animals in their natural environment - well done! Is his/her coat changing colors? :-) CJ
