Thanks Penny, Tommy's idea about the exact centering helped a lot.

The centering made a big difference - love your title. Great portrait and one you can muse on over the years to come (which will be many)

Thanks Tommy for the feedback :-) I went ahead and did a slight crop to get the left pupil at dead center.

Great b&w tonal range but why not push the envelope and really center that eye? -tv

Naw, I'm reasonable. No play, no pay. I'll just add it to Lonnit's bill... she'll never notice.

Thanks Nico, and thanks Kiki for the image critique and the psycho analysis- are you sending me a bill ? ;-)

Good honest portrait, crop and PP. How differently people interpret expressions.. you don't look a bit scary to me. I see a slightly wounded man, behind a cover of skepticism and a with a flair of "J'accuse".. or "something like that". And not old - by far.. (Now I'll NEVER post another SP lol)

Goodness gracious... scary stuff, Brent. Remind me to always be friendly towards you! :-) Only kidding. Super self-portrait! Regards Nico

Thanks again Trav and thanks Bob- wishing now I had introduced myself with a friendlier looking portrait. Oh well :-)

Good portrait Brent, nice to put a face to the name. Nice sharp lens you have there.

Well, regardless, this is very well done...and effective. Best Wishes, Traveller

I don't do many conversions Traveller and seem to try something different each time around. This time I simply selected greyscale in Lightroom and then messed with the red slider until most of my red splotchy Irish heritage and signs of growing up in too much California sun were washed away.

You look good....I'd like to know what your B&W conversion was....I'd like to be able to do skin as you have done it here.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Thanks Lydia and Traveller :-) I guess you better not make me angry then Trav! Don't worry, it's just an act because I thought a piercing gaze would look more centered. I'm happy to say I'm usually the approachable looking one in the crowd strangers walk up to for directions.
This image is quite out of my comfort zone really. Partly because I have little experience doing portraits or processing them, and partly because looking at this I can't deny the fact that I'm getting old. But no better time than the present to start learning and accepting I guess :-)

Actually, and I don't mean this badly, Brent, but this is a bit severe, isn't it? I would not want this person, whoever it is, to be angry with me...lol

But as a Portrait, this is very nicely detailed....and that fixing gaze!

Best Wishes, Traveller
