Mary Anne, The lens was about 6 to 8" from the horses eye. The eye acts like a fisheye lens so it looks like the camera was further away then it really was. Jim

What an amazing shot, Jim. I don't think I've ever seen a horse that close. What was the distance to that eye, anyway?

You are quick Jim- thanks for getting us started here. This is quite an image and a different take on what my imagination had so far come up with for the topic- but very topic worthy I'd say as a less common image of you for one. That eye looks so glassy as does the wet tissue around the eye- kinda' crazy. Great work!
