Oh, yes, that was another assumption on my part - I know you've been working with models in a group of photogs, so I figured this was another one of those meetings.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do really like the image! :)

Wow. I have not visited this picture in a while.

For the record.

- They were in a small room with about 35 photographers.
- There were about four people taking their picture at the time of my shot. They knew they were being photographed.
- The girl on the right was our makeup artist and she was done for the day. I can only assume that she was seeking the attention the other models had received that night.
- Sorry, no foot fetish or stalking lesbians. 8-)

Gosh, I'm sorry, I like it just the way it is. the image speaks volumes to me...it is excellent in emotional tone and any number of projected backstories.

Dang, some things are just good, leave them alone....not the couple, the image...lol

Whoa, whoa, whoa (as in horse, not whore! LOL!)!!! What the heck are you talking about, woman? Oh, his other shot. No, I wasn't lumping this with that; I was thinking stand-alone. How would that have influenced this anyway? She's alone. I'm confused! I guess I was just immediately struck with "disinterested" on this girl's part. I assumed disinterest b/c maybe she was faking this for the camera, as opposed to disinterest b/c she was upset, not in the mood, and in need of comfort. Ok, that makes sense now. You know, I think I know why... I assumed this shot was put on b/c it had to be taken with their knowledge - being a 17-50 mm lens. Therefor, I presumed that Lee would not go up to a lesbian couple and start shooting away, as if they were something to gawk at. Most people would be more likely to turn away - either homophobic or polite. Pictures of stolen kisses are usually taken with a long tele lens. Being that they knew they were being photographed, I figured they were putting on a show for the camera - hence my conclusion that leftie wasn't into playing the lesbian for the shot, or, quite possibly, hadn't been publicly outed yet, making her uncomfortable. Reasonable deductions, no? Then again, with Lee revealing his foot fetish, perhaps he is also revealing that he does indeed gawk at and photographically intrude upon lesbians in public, displaying affection or lack of reciprocation. ;) LMAO! ~ Lonnit

You may have "misinterpreted it" because of the context? The picture of a long legged woman in front of some bedposts or bedstead. View this as a standalone and the story is different. IMO :)

Ok, I'll take your story - if you call it comforting, then it works much more comfortably. Why did I just not get it that way on my own though? Hmph! Thanks for making me feel better about it. :) ~ Lonnit

A tender private moment, imo, more than anything else. The desat gives the viewer some respectful distance to the image. The motif as such looks more like one girl comforts the other, rather than a romantic moment. The shape of the heads and hair *could* have formed the contour of an offset black heart, but doesn't quite. I like how they are placed in the frame.

I find it interesting, kind of emotion by not showing any emotion. I don't mind the centered shot, but i care for the blackness on the right.

I agree that the emotions don't seem to be entirely there on both sides, and I think a slightly more offcentered comp might give it more oomph. I like the way the lines flow between the girls themselves, the coloring works well there. I find the slice across the top of the head doesn't bother me at all here, perhaps because it's across her hair (and her head is protected:)). --mlynn

Well, ONE of them was looking for attention. Too bad b/c it's so close to being such a great shot. Frustrating to be so close to such a great shot, but then not quite be able to get it. Grrrrrrrr! Still, it's really good, but, OH!, hrmph! ~ Lonnit
Canon DSLR Challenge26-Jan-2008 03:28
LOL. Yes/no, I knew it would be good.

I think you are right, the girl on the left was not really into the public display. BTW this was not staged. They were looking for attention.

I agree with you on the mail box thing.

LMAO!!! I saw it, had my thoughts, then happened to have scrolled down and caught what you said. LOL! So, what did you think I would say?
Looks to me to be a put-on. They don't look into eachother at all, which kills the image. Everything else about it is good, as far as you, as a photog, are concerned. But, unless there was a lover's spat, the girl in fur is definitely not into the other one. I do like the way the pano works on this - sort of like we're peeking through the mailbox slot to spy on them, which adds to the edginess of it. The centered comp is a bit too 'safe' for it all; if they were way over to the right it would add to the feel of them stealing a kiss on the sly - which again, makes me feel the dis-harmony of fur-girl not being into it. Definitely lacking in tongue. If she wasn't a willing model, she could have gone the other way on it, opening her eyes wide, intensely staring down the other one, in sort of a powerful, controlling "you're-not-gonna-have-me,-bitch! Beg-for-it." way. Then you've got some emotion, some real story. Right now, with the lack of participation on the model's part, it's killing the good job you did.

So, is that what you thought I'd say? ;) And, may I ask, why did you think that I, in particular, would have a strong reaction to this? ~ Lonnit

Thanks. I planned on moving it before the end. Just wanted to see if it got any comments from Lonnit. :-)

Perhaps this is one for the guys, Lee. *wink* I don't like seeing girls kissing.... but it's well done, in any case. ~Lydia
