You're right. This was really just a quick one to get things started for the challenge. I like to either be the first to post or the last, it seems. As Kelly pointed out, the tip of the pine cone where you can see some nice color and detail really is the interesting part of the shot. And I did shoot some of just that end of things, and rotated as was suggested (great minds think alike). I may play with this whole idea more. As it is, this isn't a really good shot by any means :) Jim H.

This is a good idea... but the loss of detail, turning into a black spot in the middle doesn't make this what I consider your usual flair of excellence, Jim. Sorry. ~Lydia

Congratulations on the first to post in eligible :)

I think it's an interesting study on backlighting and not turning the object into an outline but got to keep the detail in there.

I actually shot one of just the "tip" of the cone thinking the same thing. Really, I don't expect I'll leave this shot posted. I just wanted to get something posted quick before I went off to work. I suspect this may go to pending or at least exhibition before it's all said and done. Thanks :) Jim H.

Love that glass Jim - Try cropping and rotating the right 1/4 or so of the image for another look. - Kelly
