This is rev 2. I removed the distracting power lines running across the top of the hill. This was taken along Brea Canyon Road in north orange county, California. I got the idea for the Texas Tea listening to a report on the surge in oil prices on the way home from work. I then did a search on the internet for oil fields in the area. It was foggy in the early morning, but by the time I was able to get there, the sun was pushing through. I used a polarizer to darken the sky which at 400 iso left me with a 1/50 sec shutter speed. Normally no problem hand held, but this is first "real" picture with my 40D and I was so focused on setting it up properly that I forgot to make sure IS was on. When I processed the image, there was some camera shake that required extra sharpening which added some noise to the sky. At that point, color was not going to work so I converted to B&W using high contrast red filter. I also flipped the image horizontally to place the upper derrick on the left. --AussieDawg

Good one AussieD! That sure does remind me of the Beverly HB's. Great shot and clever take on the theme. ~ Regards Melbob
