No, it was really snow but "eating" by strong un the way that it was fully crystallised.

Thank you for the friendly comment. Don't want to disappoint you, but this is just snow ... I placed an another "Snow Flower" into challenge and downloaded one photograph into Pending - have a look how creative can be the Nature.

Extreme contrast very striking image and certainly unusual. I am interested in how this was formed, and in fact what is it exactly?

Being so crystalline I thought it might not be frozen water formation but a salt formation ?

We never get snow down here and rarely get the opportunity to see some of the fascinating shapes that can occur in snow and ice formations.
