Nice capture Lydia. I think the composition is excellent. Take away either the leftmost blind or the rightmost shadow and the composition would be ok but not as good as it currently is, imo of course :-) I really like the counterpoint (contrast) of the strong geometry of the blind lines with the softness of the hair. To that end I would love to have seen brighter highlights around the hair and other parts of the figure. Regards -Najinsky

Very interesting. I think it would also work well cropped at the edge of the right side of the blinds, but this is good too. Nice job! :) ~ Lonnit

Thanks, Gerry. The original was busier in the window (reflections), but no darker. I appreciate your comment--really do. I've considered it and I think there needs to be a source of light... to allow for the 'secrets'. Do you? I've now darkened it a bit.

Bob, it only took about ten minutes. It really wasn't between the slats much at all. Put a load of laundry in and Photoshop. *grin* Thanks again for your help. It had bothered me, but I wondered... ~Lydia

Wow, you certainly did and it is better for it. Must have been a tedious job, hope I didn't get you into trouble? This would have taken time from other probably more pressing needs. ~ Regards Melbob

I didn't see the original image but I find the open window area behind her head a bit distracting as its not as stark as the rest of the background. Otherwise wonderfully dark and mysterious capture. -mcbit

Thanks, Bob. I've worked it a bit. I think it's better for your suggestion. Thanks. ~Lydia

High contrast and lovely deep sepia toning combine to give this a dramatic atmosphere.

I love the play of light on the wall and the 'hair light' I do find the detail in the window panes a little distracting, I think if they could be erased to highlight tone it would focus attention more on the mystery of the subject.

This would be a very tedious job especially near her hair and perhaps not really worth the effort.

Good post Lydia ~ Regards Melbob
