I like the 'minimalist' approach. It contains enough detail to be honest and believable ... (specks and mark) turn a space into a wall.

The contrast is extreme and yet sufficient details in the mid tones provide the softness and sensitivity befitting a beautiful portrait.

And again the honesty of the pose, just what I would expect from a young person, not pretentious, not contrived.

The composition and processing feels big and bold to me while at an emotional level I feel the subject is emtionally softer and vulnerable. That's an altogether fine visual dichotomy in my opinion. -Michael
