Thanks Bob! These are the stamens of the Clematis vine and they are a very determined plant - perennial, and climbing over anything! The petals are long gone but the remnants of the vine stick around for a long time with these very interesting looking stamens begging to be photographed! :-) CJ

Soft and nice, I love the smooth transitions. It tells its story in a very humble yet determined manner. ~ Regards Melbob

Thanks Cat. This one now is a re-edit of the original you saw after suggestions from Kiki. And Thanks Kiki for your help with PP. Hope this looks better now! :-) CJ

Thanks Kiki and Melanie! Kiki, thanks for the info, I remember that tip now that you mentioned it but my brain must have been full at the time as I had forgotten it! I save all the little mini tutorials you post, so please continue to give us all tips on PS techniques. You are my PS Guru! :-D I posted one in pending with the levels adjusted as you suggested:

Is that what you had in mind? It may give a little sharper look to the image than I was aiming for but it does brighten it up and the stamens do stand out more. What do you think? CJ

Lovely soft shapes and toning, love the sense of gentle movement. --Melanie

Delicate and lovely shapes here, I like it, but is it a little grey? Tested tightening the histogram with the Levels tool, and liked it even better.

Perhaps you know this one already, but I'm in blabber mode and have a day off, sorry about that lol:

To adjust levels manually in PS without loosing detail: Keep the Alt key pressed while adjusting end sliders. The moment a hint of another color (in this case: white on black / black on white) appears, you're loosing detail and have "gone too far". Pull the slider slightly back again and leave it at a point shortly before the clipping occurs. Works for both the end-sliders. Has no effect on the middle slider, which doesn't operate in clipping range. Drag the middle slider to the left if you think it generally went too dark.
