I wish you guys would stop this.... I can feel a thirst coming on!
I can taste the colours in this Charlie and they are delicious! ... in fact...slight pause...
I have just returned from making myself a dry martini.... very nice ... surely dry Gin & dry vermouth is the only way?
Isn't a sweet V & Canadian Whisky = a Rob Roy? Manhattan = red Vermouth and whisky?...
(at least that is what my little shaker says??? ...lol) ~ Cheers Melbob ... Hic!
Actually, I prefer Maker's Mark on the rocks. But here are two of my secrets for a perfect martini (or Manhattan):
(1) Keep at least one martini glass in the freezer at all times.
(2) Before you pour your beverage of choice (vodka, gin, bourbon, whatever) into a martini shaker full of ice, put some water in the shaker, swish it around, and dump out the water. This keeps the alcohol from sticking to the ice.

For me the perfect MMM would be glass, ice and Makers Mark. Take a sip of sweet vermouth and then say "Vermouth" softly above the glass.
