Visible dust specks only appear backward because you're actually looking at the sensor. The image is, in fact, upside-down on the sensor, just as it is with a lens or on your retina. However, the software to process the image "knows" this and presents it to us the way we see it. In the case of my lensless shots, I think the lens mount essentially serves as a very wide pinhole.

I stated in this thread that all my lensless shots use the same PP. That is not true of my current shot in Eligible, though. I may comment more about it there. -- Victor

That is interesting? I took a shot without lens and the result I got was the opposite way round.

Bluish (obviously sky) on the lower part of the image and brown/greenish splodges on the upper part of the image? (when I applied some saturation on a mostly greyish blankish image straight from camera.

Perhaps I am confusing things... re: visible dust specks appear inverted and L to R on an image taken at very small ap' ? Back to the drawing board! ~ Regards Bob

Melbob,

Think it over carefully. Without a lens, how would the subject get rendered on the sensor? I think if you think it over carefully, you will agree that if it is not a uniform image, it will be upside-down from the subject -- exactly as it would be if there were a lens. No, this is not inverted. It is as taken. The blue is actually from the sky. The green is from my yard/neighbor's magnolia tree.

Ummmm.... Love your story Pops but ..... not sure if grass grows from the sky up there?... Down here the blue is usually up top (lens on?) Did you invert this image Victor? (Me thinks ... without lens... left to tight and top to bottom switch occurs?)

Interesting effect, nice transition. ~ Regards Melbob

All my lensless shots have the same PP applied: levels. Without the levels adjustment, the image is much duller. -- Victor

I figured it was one of your lenless shots.

It amazes me that they don't all turn out a uniform dull gray.

Let me apply a little imagination here. A fog is drifting in from a clam sea and slowly devouring the tall grasses on the shoreline. Wow! Victor, you live in a cool place.

Nice gradient Victor! I like your whole series of lensless. They have a subtle hue in them.

Thanks. I have a whole series of these (some online athttp://www.pbase.com/victorengel/lensless ), but this one I think is my favorite. I'm still trying to figure out technique. -- Victor
