A Tale of Two Cities

Houston, TX

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
One of the most famous opening lines in all of literature.
My apologies to those who don't share the sentiments expressed by this entry (you could simply reverse the order of the headlines).

I'm sorry you don't like it Doctah, but I don't see how it's naive. I'm not actually expecting him to be impeached! The leader is unpopular for a (or rather many) good reasons (and he was unpopular with me even when he was very popular with others). Yes, I should have put more time into the actual picture, but I was more interested in the sentiment in this case, and the connection with the opening line of Dickens' classic.

I find myself unmoved, not only because I find the political statement expressed to be naive, but because the image as an image is weak. Now I understand that this sort of sentiment is bound to be popular, because it's easy to throw rocks at an unpopular leader, but it seems to me that we are expecting a little more in this challenge. One would expect that the headline font would be at least the same as the article to the side, that the ink would be the right color. And let's face it, there would be pictures of the two named politicians. I'm sorry, Alastair. This one misses. -Doctah

Thanks everyone. Michael, yes I should have faded the letters. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and didn't save the layered version (silly me), and today I'm closing on a house in Boulder (moving at end of July), so won't have time.

From your lips to God's ear as the saying goes. Nicely done! I write a lot on politics, or have....and people have asked me to start again...but you know, riots in Pakistan, head of drug enforcement killed in Mexico today, the the Palestinians tearing themselves apart...and that's just the start, day after day, week after week....

I really am at a loss.

Nice picture.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Delightful! My only nit would be to fade the added headlines to the same black intensity as the remainder of the newspaper. -Michael

:-) Alistair, I going to plead the 5th here (or perhaps lack of intimate knowledge of US politics!) and steer clear of any potentially contentious remarks. :-)

It is certainly literary... it is certainly hard-hitting, that much is clear.

Regards from the other side of the planet, in case you get hit by a couple of missiles...! jnconradie :-)
