As pretty as they are, dandelions at this stage seem to carry a note of melancholy as well...one puff and they're gone. So the juxtaposition seemed kind of natural to me. This is in a cemetery for nuns, and I had to do some cropping to remove the names in order to make the image more universal. Your comments are much appreciated. Jim, did you feel better after your nod to healthy living? --Mary Anne

I would have commented sooner, but I felt the need to do some push-ups and consume a few bowls of granola. This image conflicts me, I think it has a somber tone overall-yet that dandelion is just so fluffy it makes me smile.

I love photographing dandelions, albeit probably normally more colourful, upbeat ones. And, by the way, I find it rather tricky sometimes since I have this tendency of getting the white/highlights all blown out! But that it simply a reflection of me still not having some of the real basics under control! :-) :-) So, this is really for me quite a different and unique take on dandelions... black-and-white... in a graveyard... sombre tones... sadness, parting, death, ... "touching", as Traveller also said. I like the composition a lot! I sort-of wish the side of that grave stone was perhaps slightly less lit by the sun so that it did not seem to compete with the dandelion to be the "star of the show". But other than to shoot at a different time, or perhaps some selective editing, I also realise that you could not change the situation too much. Lovely stuff! Compliments and regards jnconradie

This is rather touching...and I love your angle of view....this image works....the Died is a little tough...but that was your point, as will the dandilion soon be also gone. Best Wishes, Traveller
