Well, heck skip, this is a lovely natural light b&w portrait. Emily Dickinson ranks amongst my favorite of poets...I don't pretend to fully understand the richness of her words, but they become clearer with age. -Michael

Yes Nico, I understand, I do have one very tight crop of her head alone...but all of that is in 2x3 format for printing, full body, half body, head alone...even one rotated into Landscape Mode....lol This is the only one not 2x3...and only because it is posted here. I just wanted something different from what I was doing. I'm not very good with shooting people...but if you notice, many of my recent entries have people in them....this is a shortcoming of mine that I am working on. There is nothing special here, I'm not shooting like Elena or Matt or Mr. Puff...it is simply a straight portrait....but I think I caught something true...and you have to be able to do the basics before you move on to something more complex. (yes, I know I'm good with street scenes, but this is different). I do have a version where I extracted her and put her against a lovely cloudy sky...but it cheapened the image. Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. Best Wishes, Traveller

Hi Traveller, you never cease to amaze me: I love this! It looks so real, honest, candid... I hope you know who it is so that you can give her a print. I am sure she would be delighted with the outcome! With such a wonderful smile and twinkling eyes, she does appear exactly of the same spirit as the little bird in that lovely poem! Suggestions from my side? I was wondering whether you really needed the full portrait format shot to make the point. If I scroll down my screen so that only approximately the upper half of the shot is visible, I find it equally appealing. It seems to me as if you could have been equally compelling with just half of this shot! :-) Regards jnconradie
