I love this...the title was self-evident. Beautiful work, CJ. -Michael

Thanks Charlie and Jim. This was taken in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. When I saw the fisherman with all the birds around him, I immediately wanted to get a picture. He was happy to show us his catch but had to do so quickly as the pelicans were very interested and getting a little too close for comfort! :-) CJ

Very well done, very funny, and right on topic! I guessed what book you had in mind before even reading the title of the photo.

Thanks for the comments Nico! I know what you mean about the shoreline and I did straighten it a little before uploading it but felt any more and he would look like he was falling over! I've been doing a little more b&w lately (Nevada Theatre in the last challenge) when I feel the image calls for it. I wanted this to look like it might have been taken in the '50s when Hemingway wrote the novella. ;-)
Elena, I'm not nearly good enough with PP to PS the pelicans into the picture! LOL! They're very aggressive and are just looking for a handout from the fisherman. His catch was in the cooler in the bottom of his boat though so they couldn't get at it! :-) CJ

Nice!
I could never get very near the pelicans.Very frustrating!
Did you Photoshop them or yours are more sociable?-Elena

For some strange reason, I did not think this could be yours, CJ. Perhaps the bw treatment confused me?

Super photograph and definitely befitting a book title. As a matter of fact, I am sure the story of his life would in inself be a interesting read. I wanted to add that I feel kind-of sorry for him: it looks like all the birds have already stolen his catch, or plan to do so any moment! :-)

Any improvement suggestions? Not much. I felt like rotating the sea edge slightly, but then one could end up with the poor old man leaning over uncomfortably, so perhaps you have it quite the way it should be.

Compliments and regards jnconradie
