Thank you for the comments and observations, much appreciated. I came across this in SC while travelling for work. I went with B&W because its a brown bridge surrounded by leafless trees and lots of dead brown foliage under a cloudless sky. Lovely. The tight crop was necessary to minimize the ugly.

Beautiful and dramatic in black and white, Jim. Well done! When I was in the USA last year I so wished I could take a pic of one of these myself... but I never quite had the chance to travel to the right places. This is an instance where I thought the shot could perhaps done with a slightly less tight crop in order to show just a little more of its surroundings as well. But I do not know, of course, it could be that there were all sorts of distractions just next to the bridge. Great photograph! Regards jnconradie
