BTW, I rarely do self portraits, so this was my "Cat's eye" SP attempt ;)

Victor, an excellent guess and pretty close to the explanation for the "Cat's eye" effect". I am curious to know what gave in?

Few things to make it accurate:
1. No button anywhere in the photo. It's a soap bubble floating in mid air.
2. The photo was set up in a completely white tent, with small black background and with a small opening spindle shape opening in the tent. The tent was extra WELL illluminated from outside.
3. Thats me sitting on side of the camera looking into the tent, wearing a white T-shirt
4. My two reflections are indeed from the front and rear surfaces of the bubble
4. The stars are indeed remnants from the previously popped bubble, the little tails on the stars are there because they are moving too fast compared to the single bubble.
5. The cloud sort of thing coming into the photo from the top left corner, is moisture from the bubble source.

Well done!

X,

The button is sewn onto some black fabric that has a few transparent fibers punctuating its monotony. They cat;s-eye shape has an intriguing radial symmetry that looks like it shows the reflection of a figure sitting, both right side up and upside down. So what could cause this effect? A bubble. One reflection is on the near surface. The other reflection is on the far surface. The "stars" are remnants of previously popped soap-bubbles that landed on the fabric containing the "button". The weird cat-eye shape must have been the result of shooting through a small aperture in bright material, which serves to provide surrounding illumination of the bubble. -- Victor

Victor and Sharon, You guys are way too funny! Victor, that was a very nice and probably logical guess too. But no, its not a button either.
Sharon, here is a clue, the "stars" and the "flying saucer" are made up of same transparent substance, except different sizes.

Victor, you are too smart! It is interesting that you can't tell that it is a button looking at it at this size. A fun idea though, I especially like the "stars"! ~Sharon

I didn't know what it was until I looked at the thumbnail. It's a button. -- Victor

Thanks for playing... Its not a saucer/dish. PP in ACR only for BW conversion.

By Jove.. it's a flying saucer! But what's on the dish... that's another riddle... Cupcakes in space?

Totally mind-boggling! Regards jnconradie
