Ok, which one makes for "...a crowd"?

Thanks Markjay, you are right about 3's. I also took a few photos of only 1 beetle in the flower and it didn't work as well. I took at lease 20 photos from different angles and in groups of 1 or 3 beetles, until they finally all flew away. Judi

Great catch, Judi! I always find images with subjects in groups of three to be the most effective and interesting.... this one is no exception! Great vibrant colors as well. If I were "there" I would have shot away at several different angles.
Thanks for sharing this with us, JudI! Markjay

Thanks Nico and Cindy, I was pretty surprised to find these critters myself, they are much smaller than they look and I wouldn't have noticed them if they hadn't been on the yellow flower. I took tons of pictures of them because who knows when I'll get the chance again. Judi

Such a beautiful and striking image! What more could one wish for: blue critters on a bright yellow flower with a blue background. Nice catch! Regards jnconradie

I've never seen such beetles either, but they really are a metallic blue! Just added a little saturation but they didn't need much. They eventually flew away and I'm thinking they are perhaps from the ladybug family. JudiB

These are very artistic beetles Judi.... most insects have a 'thing' for camouflage rather than artistic expression? Very pretty and Blue. ~ Regards Melbob
