Thanks for the comments, particularly the morning light. I spent a bit of time tweaking the color balance until it was where I liked it. I wasn't quite sure how to set it objectively, so I didn't. -- Victor

What an excellent viewpoint. A really great composition. You have so many things in the shot working together very well to make this special. You really conveyed the energy of the shot with the fireworks in the distance, the motion blur of the birds and can you not notice the warm morning light. The runners are neatly packed just itching to get out of the starting lines

Front page of your Austin paper, that's what I say! Traveller

Nugar,

The traffic lights are mostly evenly spaced, except that there are none on Congress Avenue Bridge, and a relatively large space between the closest one and the next one. They couldn't be avoided completely, but they can be minimized by placement. Here I chose a placement that didn't interfere with either the capitol or the crowd. But if I'd moved north, I think the closest signal would have been below most of the runners, eliminating the break between the capitol and the runners.

Traveller,

I thought you'd like this picture. I thought of you when I was doing post. -- Victor

What Nugar said, and I like this quite a bit....I think you did what you set out to do...it is a captivating moment caught in an interesting way. Best Wishes, Traveller

Victor, regarding your comment on the forum thread, I think the traffic lights do add to the picture as a whole. Plus... was there a way to avoid them?
