Traveller - I wanted to use a landsape format pic, and I just liked the extra energy (or over the top-ness) of this one. I felt (for this challenge) that she's just *living* a little bit more because of it.

Debbi, the studio setup is athttp://tinyurl.com/ytslz7. The wall you see on the right hand side is currently painted black and has 24 square metres of astroturf laid in front of it. Its really cool stuff to have.

Oh, Geeze, if only I had a studio set like that! Fantastic shot! And even fake grass...You thought of everything. How large is your studio area?

What is interesting to me, iso, is the fact that there are some really fine images in the galery link you provided. This is not to say this one is not good, but I think that even you would admit that it is far from the best or most representive from this shoot.

So why this one? I look at it for balance...the very distinct shuttlecock, clean exposure on the body, sharp and crisp...but also a little over the top in body posture.

I don't fault you for chosing this one...just an interesting choice.

Best Wishes, Traveller

A fun shot!

I hear ya! You're pretty much on with your comments. This image in particular is way exagerated. There's better (as in more natural) shots and commercial (with copy space) athttp://www.isopic.net/gallery/Bad-Minton if you were to be interested. It makes for a fun shoot though :) I'm doing volleyball and football next :)

GOSH! Fantistic photo! Although this is techically (photowise) perfect, I have some issues with this photo:

This is not a normal stance a badminton player would fall into if they have to jump to reach the shuttle to take this shot/drop. The arm with the racket is sideways, indicating that the palyer has over-reached and that she misjudged the height of the shuttle. Another indication is the legs are folded comfortably backwards, so she does not even feel the need to stretch the body to reach the shuttle. May be the shuttle is too low and does not need this huge jump. Based on these things, my guess is she is not a badminton player and thus a half hearted, unnatural posture.
How to fix this: From what I can see, this needs a reshoot (especially if this is meant for commercial sports market) with following pointers: 1. Get a model who plays the game, cause they will have the right jump. and/or
2. Hang the shuttle much higher (beyond reach) and ask the model to do their best to reach it. You'll see better stance.
My 2 cents.
