I get bored with "regular" photography, especially for challenges with voters who generally are dead set against voting for any image (mine or otherwise) that speaks to me. My childish reaction to these people who have the audacity to disagree with me is to play with toy cameras, and Santa was kind enough to bring me new toys this year (I got a Lomo Fisheye point-and-shoot in addition to the zoneplate).

I really like going to the same old spots (this is Balboa Park, where I've shot many, many times over the past 16 years) with different equipment. Taking a picture of this walkway with a typical set-up (with a lens, for instance) would at best yield a nice postcard for the spinning display rack in the information center. With the zoneplate, on the other hand, I get an image of the same location that no one without severe cataracts will ever see.

So, iso3200, no need to apologize. I don't expect this style to take the DSLR world by storm any time soon! I am happy just to share my image and expose Challenge participants to a new way of using their cameras. Dana Bell: I can add quite a bit of contrast by adjusting the levels in Photoshop. That would clear things up considerably, but I think it would be contrary to the point of the zoneplate. Everyone else: Thank you for looking! Happy hunting. - bee1000

I like the effect, but it needs a little more light/dark contrast to bring it out. Does that make sense?

bee, I normally like the images you enter, and I enjoy experimental stuff as well, but this one on the whole falls a little flat for me. It looks like a great location, but the pinhole thing just isn't doing it to my eye. Sorry.

Very eeire looking scene, like something out of a dream. Very interesting effect but I'm too cheap to spend $45 to accheive it! ;-) CJ
