Exactly. :) ~ Lonnit

It's probably worth playing with, but I'm not sure it would be good to change it. This is often very hard to reconcile. I don't think I'd like seeing the bridge uprights leaning to the left. Jim H.

Ugh, yes... these bridges are always such a problem. If you look at the bridge, and that horizontal reflection line, the whole image looks correct. If you just look at the horizon, it's apparently tilted. When you get the horizon right, the bridges always look out of whack. I had the same issues with the Verizano. I'd already slightly rotated the image. It looked good until you made me stare at the horizon again! LOL! I'll have to play with it. Thanks!! ~ Lonnit

I really love the colors and shades you got here. The blue of the sky and the reflections in the water are perfect as is the shade and color of the grass. I also immediately like the composition of this, but as I look longer, I feel like the horizon is tilted. I wonder if this could be rotated a bit while still not needing to crop too much off. And further, I wonder if I'd like the composition as well with it rotated. Jim H.

Splendid! Such delicate reflections. -- Bruce

Thanks, Lee & Melanie. :)

Nico, I think I just left the foreground a slight tad sharper than the prior version - if there's any miniscule difference at all. I probably wouldn't have gone all the way to ISO 100; 200 would have been just as clean and the longer that shutter is open, the higher the risk of vibration from the kids in the car screaming for me to hurry up! LOL!

Hi Lonnit, the new version looks even better! (And I was indeed thinking ISO 100 with exposure time however many minutes it would take :-) would have worked better, but clearly I was not thinking windy, nor was I thinking cold. I now understand your settings much better. Perfectly so!) Regards ~jnconradie

Thank you so much, Daniel. I do hope I am continuing to evolve as a photographer so your comment is very encouraging and I truly appreciate it. :)

Nico, A lower ISO would have meant an even longer exposure. I guess you meant higher ISO? I would have liked a longer exposure with a lower ISO, but it was fairly windy and I was shivering like mad, and didn't have a cable release with me. Afraid of camera shake, I wanted the shortest reasonable exposure. I still got the beautiful starbursts from this, which I was very, very happy about. ISO 640 is fairly grainy - I didn't want to push past that for this type of image. I like grit in a street shot, or some types of portraits, but I'd like as little grain as possible here. On a warm summer evening I would have opted for a much lengthier exposure at lower ISO.

I uploaded a new copy without that little piece of leaf or whatever. My larger file had it cloned out already. It bugged me too, and I figured I'd replace it today, when I had time. Voila! I just couldn't wait to post it already, as soon as I got home from taking it, and I had made the copy, for some reason, before I'd cloned it out.

Thanks for commenting! ~ Lonnit

Wow, Trav! That's some wonderful review - thank you so much! The blown highlights are in the center of every light, along with the pure white reflections. Actually, the fact that you are not disturbed by the blown highlights is in itself the proof why you should indeed vote for this image - they are blown so well that you are perfectly accepting of them as not being a flaw in the image. Can't get more "well blown" than that! :) To be well blown, they must not be disturbing, which means either they are not a distraction to the image, or they are extremely obvious but put to good use as an important element of the image.

As for the leaf, I had cloned it out in in the full rez file. I must have made this copy prior to that. I'll recopy it now and swap it out. Thanks. ~ Lonnit

Wonderful, Lonnit! You seem to have a knack for bridges... I remember others I liked in a series you presented yesteryear; nevertheless: this image shows the enormous evolution of your stiyle since then. — db.

Lovely sight! Well photographed. Good compostion. I was surprised that you did not elect a lower ISO number and rather went for a longer exposure? There is some light-brownish "stuff" on the grass bank, right at the bottom edge of the photograph, which you could perhaps have cropped/cloned out just to make it more picture-perfect. That's my bit of "nit-picking" done for today! :-) Regards ~jnconradie

Well, Lonnit, you really nailed this. I can't conceive of this bridge being shot better and I'd vote for it for its overall componsitional structure as well as general beauty...but I don't see where I can vote for this...where are the blown hi-lights?

Voting is going to be a real mystery for me this go round...lol

But seriously, I'd love to have this in my portfolio myself...truly a great image.

Best Wishes, Traveller (Oh, PS: On any version for sale, I'd clone out the leaf, bottom center).
