So CJ asks what is the name of the purple berried plant that I posted as Deer Food. I didn't know the answer so I called back East. I was told that the nice, tiny, white haired, 69 year old grandmother I briefly met would know for sure but no one could contact her because she was out in the woods hunting deer.
"It's called Sumac, I think, but Mrs. Carmack got herself an eight point buck this morning and she's back out there again."
Me: "Pardon? She's out killing Bambi's mother? I mean, maybe Bambi's father, since it was a buck."
"Oh sure, yes, she's worn the triple crown several time!"
Me: "The triple crown?"
"Yes, she's killed a deer with a rifle, a bow and arrow, and a black powder muzzle loader several years now."
Me: "You're kidding me, pulling my leg, aren't you?"
"No, she's a great hunter! Deer season opened today and she's way out in the woods."
Me: "Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...."

I would parenthetically add that I could never kill a deer. But...I saw hundreds dashing across back roads in my recent travels. Interestingly, I found them very, very hard to photograph with only a 70~200 F4L lens.
So knowing more now than I did before, Kudos to anyone that gets a good shot of a Deer in the wild...photographically I mean...lol
(If I'm not commenting much on all the really wonderful images in the Galleries, I am way behind in my real work having been away for a week. Snowed under is I believe the phrase)
I think lots of people haven't quite gotten over the last challenge! I have seen a number of images that would have made good entries in the rule of thirds with purple challenge, not the least of which is this one. I really like the saturated colors in this. You might have gotten a bit better bokeh if you had had a sunny day for this shot. Still, a very pleasing image. ~Sharon
